DIY planters

My "concrete" plastic planters are no more....

What's a DIY project if you aren't using spray paint?! You know I just can't stay away from it!

One of the best things about this time of year is the opportunity to add color around your home, more specifically on the outside of your home. If you have been in stores lately, or researching online, you've probably noticed planters aren't always cheap! Great news.... you can DIY the planters to your liking for just a fraction of the price!

Supplies needed for a flower pot upgrade with spray paint

  • Spray paint
  • Flower planters
  • Paper towels
  • Drop cloth/cardboard (whatever you have on hand to place item on to prevent markings)

After moving into our new home, and finally having a front porch I knew I needed to purchase some planters.  Because our front door is pretty big, I wanted something narrow and tall to add more dimension. I searched for a simple plastic planter, I didn't want something super heavy or something that could easily break. Lowes had a great selection and I found just what I was looking for... for the most part...

The planters were a reasonable price, and super lightweight and just the height I needed.... but they were not black, not the end of the world! Just a little bit of spray paint, and they looked like a whole new piece!

Whenever I spray paint I always go back to the Rust-Oleum spray paint! I love how fast it dries, how smoothly it applies, AKA no drips or runs, and its affordable!

And tadaa!!! Within 1 hour these babies were dry and I could place to make this space pretty! Now I await for these planters to go into full bloom!

Also, if you're interested in where we purchased our plants, the greenhouse we visited was Tudbinks in Conestoga, PA. Guys... you HAVE to go, it is totally worth the drive even if you are not within a few miles. Seriously you will not regret it! They have a huggeee selection, and they have some awesome staff that know their stuff and are willing to go above and beyond for your needs.

Get creative and add your own spin to your old or new flower planters/pots! Thank you for reading, happy DIY'ing!
